Extra services provided through schools

All schools in Nottingham offer or signpost to activities and support services outside of the traditional school day including; childcare, sports activities, homework clubs, health services and advice for parents.

All children and families should have access to a variety of activities beyond the school day. Well-organised, safe and stimulating activities before and after school provide children and young people with a wider range of experiences and make a real difference to their chances at school.

Schools are not just places that provide education. They also provide and signpost to the following extended services to their local communities:

  • Childcare
  • Adult education
  • Leisure and sport activities
  • Parenting skills
  • ICT facilities
  • Study support before and after school and in holidays - including homework clubs, creative ventures, sports, games, mentoring, opportunities for volunteering and community service
  • Health and social care services - schools will offer a wider range of specialist support including: speech and language therapy; community and mental health services; family support services; behaviour support and sexual health services for young people

All these activities will not necessarily take place at your child's school, but your family will be able to access these services in the local area.
