The benefits of physical activity are varied and include:

  • More energy - exercise makes you feel more energetic
  • Healthy weight - regular exercise helps to stabilise your weight
  • Improved sleep - your body and mind feel as though they've worked out and are ready for rest at night
  • Delayed ageing - keeping active strengthens your muscles, joints and bones as well as helping with mobility and balance
  • Lower blood pressure and improved circulation

A lot of people feel they don't have time to squeeze exercise into a busy schedule, but it can be built into your day-to-day life and doesn't need to take very long, just 3 x 10 minute bursts a day if necessary.  If you're at work all day, try going out for a walk on your lunch break or going for a swim at your local pool, you could also try walking or cycling to and from work.
